This is my favourite scene from the film. To me, it’s the most beautiful scene from the very scenic film. Maybe because I love sunsets and beaches.

First of all, I love watching movies but I’m not big in writing movie reviews especially on local films. But when I do it’s because I feel that the film deserves it. Also because people tend to spoil the movie in reviews and I try not to because people should decide for themselves on whether they like something or not after they have seen it or try it. So I’m not going to give away too much.

My first thought after watching Terbaik Dari Langit is that I enjoyed the movie. That’s the most important thing – to know that it’s worth paying for. Because you know, it’s not often that Malaysian filmmakers produce movies that are worth your money and time.

Terbaik Dari Langit, in one way you can see that it’s a really simple movie and straightforward but in another way you may think it’s left you hanging, confused, wondering what is it really about, what happened in the end? You may even think it’s shit. I can say you think it’s shit because you don’t get it. Doesn’t mean I’m right and you’re wrong. I think that’s the whole point of Terbaik Dari Langit. I think.

To me, I think it’s simple but profound. And you don’t get a lot of local movies like this. I think the last one was Bunohan? but that was more intense, not so simple. Terbaik Dari Langit is about friendship, being yourself and most importantly it’s about guts. About having the guts to do what you want, to be what you want to be or even to say YES or NO. Because let’s be honest, sometimes saying NO to someone or something is the hardest thing to do.

I don’t need to comment much on the technicalities of the movie because based on the posters and trailers, you know their cinematography is fantastic. Their actors are a bunch of talented people: Bront Palarae, Nadiya Nisa, Iedil Putra, Amerul Affendi did so well. And the script was clever.

I’m not one who would go on to say ‘Support Local Film’ and all. Because frankly there are not a lot of great local films for me to campaign for them. But don’t fret, Terbaik Dari Langit. If you don’t make much doesn’t mean you’re bad. I’m sure the people behind it are happy with what they have produced. Because I would be if I worked on it. And I honestly hope there will be more of this. Even if it didn’t make it big (I hope they do), I will remember it, people who watched it will too.

My favourite quote from Terbaik Dari Langit? “Pandang langit jangan lupa tanah” because that’s always relevant and everyone should live by it.
